"The Eden team had a solid understanding of what was required to rollout our new desktop. From project management to technical expertise they were excellent. I would highly recommend them."

The Client

JB Hanauer & Company is a full service brokerage firm devoted to the building and preservation of wealth.  The firm’s capabilities range from fixed income investments to asset classes such as mutual funds, unit investment trusts, certificate of deposit, annuities insurance and fee based asset management.  JB Hanauer & Company currently has offices in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and throughout Florida.  With over 75 years of experience in building and preserving wealth, their relationships with clients extend into decades and generations. They attribute their success to their ability to do business in a traditional way while keeping their operations modern and efficient.

The Challenge

In order to support increased application functionality it was necessary for JB Hanauer & Co. to upgrade their desktop environment from Windows 2000 to Windows XP. The firm had an SMS 2003 environment in place and wished to leverage this investment to deploy the new OS without having to visit each workstation. JB Hanauer requested assistance in creating a single image for all of their hardware platforms, developing and implementing a zero-touch OS deployment solution, and training their staff on application packaging, SMS, and deployment best practices.

Eden Technologies’ Solution

The Eden team worked with JB Hanauer to design and test a unified desktop image which functioned properly on each of their desktop and laptop hardware profiles. During this process the firm’s core applications were packaged in .MSI format and JB Hanauer’s staff was trained on the latest tips and tricks around application packaging. The upgrade was used as an opportunity to streamline the current Active Directory structure and the unified desktop image was further strengthened through the implementation of standardized group policies across the enterprise. The desktop image was piloted and subsequently deployed to 700+ users across six offices utilizing Microsoft’s Business Desktop Deployment (BDD) zero touch strategy.
